Help
- STUDENT NUMBER
Your student number can be found on your alumni membership card.
If you cannot find your membership card, please fill in the E-mail
For Life Account Request Form.
- INFOWEB PASSWORD
If you do not have an InfoWeb account already, you must use the Get
Initial Password Form to obtain an initial InfoWeb password (PIN).
Please enter your surname, date of birth, first and last three digits
of your Social Insurance Number, and your student number.
The data you enter on the form must match the information in the
University's Student Information System (SIS). However, if your data
doesn't match the SIS, please contact the Computing Help Centre at
(613) 562-5800, ext. 6555, or by filling out the Password
Change Request Form to obtain a new password to access InfoWeb.
- INFOWEB PIN
If your InfoWeb PIN number doesn't work, try using the Get
Initial Password Form. Please enter your surname, date of birth,
first and last three digits of your Social Insurance Number, and your
student number.
- INTERNATIONAL GRADS
If you were an international student and your InfoWeb PIN number
doesn't work or you don't have a Social Insurance Number, please fill
out the E-mail
For Life Account Request Form.
- PRE-1974 GRADS
If you graduated before 1974, your student record is not in the Student
Information System; therefore, you don't have an InfoWeb account.
Please fill out the E-mail
For Life Account Request Form to obtain your account. You will
receive a response within one business day.
- HONOURARY DOCTORATE RECIPIENTS
If you received an honourary doctorate degree from the University
of Ottawa, your student record is not in the Student Information System;
therefore, you don't have an InfoWeb account. Please fill out the
E-mail For
Life Account Request Form to obtain your account. You will receive
a response within one business day.
- ELIGIBILITY
If you feel you meet the eligibility criteria but when you enter
InfoWeb and click on Services, you don't see the Email for Life option,
please fill out the E-mail
For Life Account Request Form.
- TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
To optimize the viewing of this web site, we recommend that your
computer have the following: a minimum screen resolution of 800 ×
600 with 256 colors, a mouse and Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer
(versions 4.0 or later recommended).

- USER NAME AND PASSWORD CRITERIA
- accounts must be formatted firstname.lastname@alumni.uottawa.ca
(e.g., jane.doe@alumni.uottawa.ca);
- only one account per member is allowed on the alumni e-mail system;
- a username may be used only by the first member to apply for it;
- a username cannot contain a "reserved" word (i.e., there
are certain words that cannot be used);
- a username must be at least three characters in length (maximum
32 characters) and can only contain characters A to Z (case sensitive),
zero to nine, or a period ("."). A username may contain
multiple periods, but it contain two consecutive periods (e.g.,
"a.b.c" is valid, but "a..b" is not);
- passwords must be five to eight characters in length and can contain
only characters A to Z (case sensitive) and zero to nine.
- UNUSED ACCOUNTS
Unused accounts for more than 12 months will be deactivated. Members
will be required to create a new account on the service.
- FORGOTTEN YOUR E-MAIL FOR LIFE PASSWORD
If you have forgotten your E-mail For Life account password, please
fill out the E-mail
For Life Password Change Request Form and have your password changed
to a new one of your choice.
- CHANGING YOUR USER NAME
If you have a good reason to change the username for your E-mail For
Life account, please fill out the E-mail
For Life Account Change Request Form. Allow at least two business
days before trying your new username.
Note that it is your responsibility to transfer the e-mail on your old
account to your new account. You can do this by going onto the old account
and e-mailing all the e-mails you want to keep to your new account.
It is also your responsibility to forward any e-mail that may go
to your old account to your new account. You can do this by going
to the tool that allows you to Manage
Your Account and use the Set Forwarding Address option.
- To read e-mail sent to your E-mail For Life account, you must use
the web-based e-mail software supplied by the University. See Reading
Your E-mail.
