Le parcours du français en Amérique du Nord est unique : langue de migration d'abord, elle se déploie en Amérique du Nord dès le 17e siècle, dans de nombreuses communautés où les frontières géopolitiques seront plusieurs fois modifiées; langue de contact aussi, elle porte en elle les traces des échanges qui l'ont fait évoluer, au premier chef avec les Autochtones et les anglophones, et dans les communautés où elle s'est implantée; langue de ralliement, elle rassemble les individus autour de grandes questions de société. Autant de voix singulières qui s'unissent pour raconter leur(s) histoire(s). La conférence dressera un portrait du pluralisme du français nord-américain en suivant la trajectoire de communautés francophones.
