Gee-Gees women’s soccer team: OUR champions!
The uOttawa women's soccer team claimed fourth place at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) National Championship in Victoria, British Columbia on Sunday. The University of Victoria made good on four straight penalty kicks to claim the CIS bronze medal in women's soccer, after playing a scoreless ninety minutes with the Gee-Gees.
The fourth place finish is the first for the Gee-Gees at the nationals. They now have a record of 3-1 in the national bronze medal game.
Gillian Baggott, named the player of the game for Ottawa, was once more a force at both ends of the pitch. "Gillian was a standout performer for us all year. Her leadership was a great part of why we did have a great season," said head coach Steve Johnson. "We are disappointed to come and finish off a wonderful season with two losses."
Congratulations to the Gee-Gees—still OUR champions!
