Nurturing a passion for linguistics and a flair for business

Elizabeth Quan is a fourth-year honours student, Bachelor of Arts with Major in Linguistics and Minor in Business Administration. Elizabeth has been taking business classes since high school, even though her interests have tended towards linguistics. She has kept an admin component to her studies because she feels it will provide more opportunities after university.

Born and raised in Canada, Elizabeth comes from a family of business owners and is naturally drawn to the idea of owning and running a business. She has been helping out at her parents' hair salon since she was 13. She enjoys styling and dying hair, as well as travelling, shopping, skating, going to the movies, going out to eat and trying new foods, and has taken great interest in power naps since university started!

When her parents' hair salon is passed down to her, she intends on turning it into a salon and spa, eventually expanding it even further in terms of various locations, including possibly abroad. For now, Elizabeth enjoys the atmosphere and vibe walking through the campus, and appreciates uOttawa's proximity to the Rideau Centre mall, one of the advantages of being downtown.
