A variety of cultural events

Our active and lively campus is the site of a host of activities offered in partnership with our faculties, clubs, services and student associations. We are pleased to offer a wide variety of cultural events, in both official languages.

Each year we organize several events to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day (September 25) and the Mois de la francophonie (March 1 to 31), as well as lectures, expositions, concerts, films and much more. These activities contribute to a memorable university experience and develop a true sense of belonging among our students.

  • Multilingualism gets royal attention

    The University of Ottawa had the great honour of being part of the state visit to Canada of Their Majesties the King and Queen of the Belgians. The royal couple took part in events as part of the “Multilingual Education and Language Learning: Canada and Belgium at a Crossroads” conference organized by the University of Ottawa and the Université Catholique de Louvain. Along with the conference, the two universities also signed an agreement for a double degree in multilingual communication / organizational communication (with research paper option).

    March is the Mois de la Francophonie. The University joins the international community in celebrating the French language and culture in all its forms. Whether French is your first language or you’re new to the language of Molière, here are some of the reasons uOttawa students say they chose to study in, or learn, French.

  • Lecture series honours Mauril Bélanger

    A lecture series created as a tribute to the late MP and uOttawa alumnus Mauril Bélanger was launched on February 15 with a talk on a topic close to his heart. Professor Emerita Anne Gilbert, from uOttawa’s Department of Geography, presented the inaugural lecture, entitled “New Frontiers: The Dynamics of Francophone Space in the Capital.”
