On May 17, uOttawa engineering students took part in the National Science and Innovation Gala 2017 at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. The event featured a steampunk theme to highlight the importance of education in the STEAM fields: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

The gala was also the ideal setting to present the first ever STEAM Horizon Awards to seven students from across Canada for their exceptional achievements in the STEAM fields.

The evening was a perfect blend of science and fantasy. From wearable technologies to drones and remote-controlled robots, take a look at the steampunk-style inventions our students presented at the event.

The Heartbeat chestplate was among the inventions presented by uOttawa engineering students.
