Each year, uOttawa’s CO-OP office invites students on CO-OP work terms to submit photos in an annual photo competition that aims to highlight their experiences. The photos must show the students at work in their CO-OP placement.
Take a look at the winning entries from the 2015 CO-OP Photo Competition!
First prize ($300): Alexa Schryer
Program: Political science
Employer: Media Relations Office, University of Ottawa
Photo title: À la une! | Making Headlines!
As a junior communications officer working with the uOttawa media relations team, one of my jobs was to read several newspapers every day. Every morning, I would scan a large variety of media sources, such as newspapers (online and hard copy versions) and clips from radio and TV broadcasts, searching for any mention of the University of Ottawa. This photo shows all the newspapers I read over the course of a week. — Alexa Shryer
Second prize ($200): Rosalie Forget-Lacoursière
Program: Civil law
Employer: Projects Abroad, South Africa
Photo title: Kaap Die Goeie Hoop
Learning about the history, and enjoying the magnificent landscapes, of Western Cape, South Africa. — Rosali Forget-Lacourisère
Third prize ($100): Danika Lizotte
Employer: CAE, Ottawa
Photo title: Second Annual Hadfield Youth Summit
CAE was a major sponsor of the Second Annual Hadfield Youth Summit. During my CO-OP placement, I helped organize CAE’s participation in this event. On the day before the event, we held a press conference featuring astronaut Chris Hadfield and Maryse Carmichael, the first woman to pilot and then command the Snowbirds, who is now a military flight instruction specialist with CAE. At the end of the conference, I was able to take a snapshot with Maryse Carmichael, Andrea Marcoux (a colleague) and Chris Hadfield. Very cool event! — Danika Lizotte
