Terms of Reference
In June 1967, the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors approved the creation of the Parking Committee by resolution 67.23 described in Policy No. 44, amended by resolution 70.11 of the Executive Committee, resolution 190.1 of the Administrative Committee, resolution X85.40 of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors, resolutions 947.3, 966.9, 1354.9, 1789.8 and 2002.2 of the Administrative Committee and by the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors on March 8, 2011.
Status
The Parking Committee is a permanent advisory committee reporting to the Administrative Committee of the Board of Governors.
The Committee studies parking problems, recommends parking policies and submits the annual budget to the Board of Governors through the Administrative Committee.
Membership
The Committee is composed of the following members:
- two persons appointed by the Administrative Committee;
- three persons appointed by the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa;
- one student appointed by the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa;
- one student appointed by the Graduate Students' Association;
- two persons appointed by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Association;
- one person appointed by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada;
- one person appointed by the Association of Part-time Professors of the University of Ottawa;
- the Director of Protection Services.
The Chairperson can invite, in a consultative capacity, one or more persons.
All members are elected or appointed for a three-year term beginning September 1, except for student members who will be appointed for a one-year term.
At the first meeting, the Committee elects among its members a Chairperson and a Vice‑Chairperson. The Director of Protection Services will be the Executive Officer of the Committee and will perform the duties of Secretary and Treasurer.
The Committee meets at the call of the Chairperson at least twice a year, in the fall and in the winter.
The Chairperson must convene the Committee upon request of three members.
A delay of seven days must be allowed between the date of the notice of meeting and the date of the meeting. If required, an urgent meeting may be called on less than seven days notice, which may be declared legal by a majority of the members of the Committee.
A quorum is a simple majority.
The Committee reports to the Administrative Committee.
