The University of Ottawa Health Services Family Health Team (UOHS FHT) has a mission to maintain and improve the health of the University of Ottawa and its surrounding community by providing a patient centered interdisciplinary health care team which delivers prevention, early identification, treatment, care, and support for acute and chronic disease management in an environment that is open and transparent to social, ethnic, or income factors.
We are currently looking for a full-time Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care to patients and provide consultative services regarding issues relevant to the practice of nursing.
Essential Responsibilities
Assessment:
| - | Triage and assess clients to identify appropriate nursing interventions. |

Perform first-aid treatment on emergency cases; make the initial assessment and direct client to physician or nurse practitioner according to the degree of urgency. |

Assist and/or perform medical procedures (e.g. ear irrigation, immunization, allergy shots, injections, IV therapy, dressing, suture removal, etc.) according to standards of practice. |
| - | Assessment of client health care needs (physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual) |
| - | Interpret client health records |
| - | Observe and record outcomes |
| - | Collect data through a therapeutic relationship with a client |
Treatment/Management:
| - | Determine the appropriate service or treatment, the appropriate care provider or the appropriate equipment |

| - | Provide nursing care and treatment (including complementary therapies and/or counselling) for health problems |
Education/Advocacy:
| - | Help clients to identify and use health resources |
|---|---|
| - | Initiate health education and other activities that assist, promote and support the patients health care plan |
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
| - | University degree, college diploma or completion of approved registered nursing program. |

| - | Bilingual (French and English) |
| - | Active membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario. |
| - | Current membership with the RNAO preferred. |
| - | Minimum two (3) years clinical experience in a community or Primary Care Setting. |
| - | Computer literacy: MS Word, Outlook, Excel, presentation software, EMR and Internet |
