New HP Blog!
Health Promotion’s new global health blog is a space to discuss comprehensive topics of health and wellness; local, global, and anywhere in between. The blog will help increase your level of global consciousness and help you make decisions that are healthy for you, your immediate community, and the greater global good!
Check out this month’s blog, Overseas Experience - Where’s the sense in that?
Access to EducationLocal access to post-secondary education continues to be a real challenge for bright, talented young Canadians. In 2009-2010, Ontario became the most expensive province in Canada for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain a degree. The province now has the highest tuition fees for undergraduate and graduate students in the country.
Around the world, an estimated 101 million children do not attend school, more than half of which are girls. They are being denied their basic human right to education. Without education, their future opportunities are dramatically limited. If schooling unlocks the gate to a bright and successful future, a child without education will encounter insurmountable barriers. (UNICEF) |

International Development Week: Feb 5-11
From February 5 to 11, 2012, International Development Week (IDW) highlights the work of Canada's development community and connects this work to Canadians. During IDW, Canadians, especially youth, are invited to take action and participate in Canada's international development efforts through a number of events taking place across the country.
The national theme for this year’s IDW focuses on the empowerment of women and girls and sustainable economic growth. Visit CIDA’s website for more information on IDW 2012 themes and events.
