Access card and keys

The entrances to the residences are access-controlled. You need a magnetic swipe card to have access to the building and a key to enter your room.

Locked out of your room?

Go to the Front Desk if you are locked out of your room. The cost is $15, charged to your account.

If you request the lock-out service more than three times within a one-month period, you will be deemed to have lost your keys. 

Lost your keys?

Get replacement key and access card from the Front Desk. Costs for replacement access card and keys vary, depending on the type of accommodation you live in. See the service fees schedule.

Protect your access card

Magnets, cell phones, computers, iPods, speakers, credit cards, bank cards and cards with bar codes can demagnetize your access card. The magnetic band can also become unusable if scratched.

To avoid this, insert your access card in a cardholder and keep it separate from your electronic equipment and magnetic items. You can get that cardholder from the RAUO.

Guests

Anyone you allow into your residence becomes your guest and your responsibility!  While in Rez, guest registry is mandatory the first week of September, during exam periods and every weekend.  Pre-registration is required from time to time during the session. Signs are posted near the turnstiles when pre-registration is mandatory. 

If your guest arrives while you’re in your room, you must come down to let them in.

At Brooks and Hyman Soloway, guests can buzz your room from the main entrance.
