The passing of a pioneer of the French language
OTTAWA, January 4, 2010 — Members of the University of Ottawa community are saddened by the passing of René Dionne, emeritus professor at the Faculty of Arts, Département de français.
A graduate of the universities of Laval, Montreal and Sherbrooke, Professor Dionne authored several works on franco-Ontarian, Acadian and Québécois literature as part of his research activities. In the course of a prolific career, René Dionne received honorary doctorates from York University and Université de Montréal.
The University of Ottawa offers its heartfelt condolences to friends and family of Professor Dionne.
