New Worlds of Water
4 p.m., Desmarais Building, Room 3120 (55 Laurier Ave. East)
The African Study and Research Laboratory presents a lecture titled New Worlds of Water by Maggie Catley-Carlson. Mrs. Catley-Carlson, chair of the Board of the Crop Diversity Trust, the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Water and the Foresight Advisory Committee for Group Suez Environment, will discuss how the relationship between people and water has changed enormously in the past three decades. Around the world there is growing awareness of current and accelerating stress on water availability. What does this foretell for national water management and for international relations among water-sharing nations? What are the obstacles? Conflicted? The World of War

The University of Ottawa’s Community Life Service invites Dr. Samantha Nutt, a medical doctor and Founder and Executive Director of War Child Canada, one of Canada’s leading charities helping children affected by war. Conflicted? The World of War will take a compelling look at the impact of war around the world — the truth, the lies, and the reality on the ground and what can be done about it. Dr. Nutt will share her experiences and take listeners on a journey to war zones around the world, telling personal stories of both triumph and hardship, and what one person can do to really make a difference.
