$180,000 scholarship for uOttawa political science student

OTTAWA, May 13, 2010  —  Political science PhD candidate Rosalind Raddatz has been awarded the prestigious Trudeau Doctoral Scholarship from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. The $180,000 prize will help cover tuition fees and living expenses, as well as travel for research, scholarly networking and knowledge dissemination.

Raddatz will soon be off to Western Africa for her doctoral project, titled Accounting for Peace: Democracy and Political Settlements in Post-Civil War Sierra Leone and Liberia. She is the latest in an impressive list of University of Ottawa scholars to receive the Trudeau Scholarship, one of the most coveted awards of its kind in Canada.

Up to 15 Trudeau Scholarships are presented each year to support doctoral candidates pursuing research of compelling present-day concern that touches upon one or more of the four themes of the Foundation. Highly gifted individuals actively engaged in their fields, Trudeau scholars are expected to become prominent national and international figures.
