Media advisory: International panel of economics experts to debate green growth or no growth
OTTAWA, January 19, 2011 — Sustainable Prosperity, in collaboration with the University of Ottawa, invites you to a debate with four of the world’s top economics experts. CBC Radio One’s Paul Kennedy, host of Ideas, will moderate the live debate, entitled Green Growth or No Growth: Charting a Sustainable Economic Future, at the University of Ottawa.
Can the Earth support an ever-growing economy? Can we shift to “green growth”, for a healthier environment and economy? If so, how?

Participants include four globally prominent economics experts:
• Tim Jackson, author of Prosperity Without Growth: Economics for a Finite Planet, and economics commissioner with the UK Sustainable Development Commission
• Peter Victor, author of Managing Without Growth: Slower By Design, Not Disaster, and economics professor at York University
• Richard Lipsey, one of Canada's pre-eminent economists and author of Economic Transformations: General Purpose Technologies and Long Term Economic Growth (winner of the 2006 Schumpeter Prize)
• Paul Ekins, author of Economic Growth and Environmental Sustainability: The Prospects for Green Growth and chair of the UK Green Fiscal Commission
The debate will be broadcast on February 2, 2011 on CBC Radio One’s Ideas.
