Professor Penny Werthner makes 2010 Most Influential Women List

OTTAWA, January 19, 2011  —  The University of Ottawa wishes to congratulate Faculty of Health Sciences professor Penny Werthner for making the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity’s (CAAWS) 2010 Most Influential Women List.

Penny Werthner is an associate professor in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. Her areas of interest and research include the learning processes of coaches and athletes, psychological preparation (particularly during World Championships and Olympic Games), stress and burnout in Olympic level coaches, issues facing female coaches, values and ethics in sport and physical activity and the use of biofeedback and neurofeedback to enhance the performance of athletes and coaches. Penny Werthner is a member of the International Council for Coach Education and chair of the Review Committee for the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (www.cspa-acps.ca).

The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity is a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating an equitable sport and physical activity system in which girls and women are actively engaged as participants and leaders.
