Professor David Staines receives the Order of Ontario

OTTAWA, January 25, 2011  —  The University of Ottawa extends its heartfelt congratulations to Professor David Staines, who has received the Order of Ontario.

David Staines is a professor of English specializing in medieval, Victorian and Canadian literatures at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Arts. He has been the editor of the Journal of Canadian Poetry since 1986 and of the New Canadian Library since 1988. Professor Staines’ publications include The Forty-Ninth and Other Parallels: Contemporary Canadian Perspectives (1986) and Beyond the Provinces: Literary Canada at Century's End (1995). In 2005, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

Established in 1986 by Lieutenant-Governor Lincoln Alexander, the Order of Ontario is the province’s highest honour and recognizes personal excellence and achievement in every area of human endeavour.
