Film Screening: Constitute! (30th Anniversary of the Women’s Constitution Conference)
With the participation of Marilou McPhedran, principal of the Global College at the University of Winnipeg and  Susan Bazilli, director of the International Women's Rights Project

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Constitution Conference, the Shirley E. Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession presents Constitute!, a documentary by Susan Bazilli and Robert Rooney. This film, produced by the International Women’s Rights Project (IWRP) at the University of Victoria and Rooney Productions, profiles the dynamic activism by countless Canadian women to ensure The Charter of Rights and Freedoms would include equality. The film also profiles women’s global constitutional activism with segments about South Africa, Rwanda and Afghanistan. Marilou McPhedran, principal of the Global College at the University of Winnipeg, founding mother of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), and an original “Ad Hocker,” as well as Susan Bazilli, director of the IWRP and executive producer of Constitute!, will participate in the film screening. Townhall Meeting: The Future of the Institute of Canadian Studies

Pierre Cardinal, author of Vocabulaide, a French-language dictionary

A lecture titled “Les influences lexicales de l’anglais sur le français contemporain. Pour une nouvelle approche dictionnairique et pédagogique.” will be given by Pierre Cardinal.Mr. Cardinal is author of Vocabulaide, a French-language dictionary that concentrates on the influences of the English language towards the French language and its uses in transition. Radical Readers Series Lecture: Sex Work and the Law in India

Professor Prabha Kotiswaran, School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, will give a lecture based on her book Dangerous Sex, Invisible Labour: Sex Work and the Law in India (Princeton University Press). This event, presented in English only, is the third offered by the 2010-2011 Radical Readers Series, which presents unique and unusual insights on the intellectual life of today’s researchers.
