Three new programs for health professionals

OTTAWA, March 3, 2011  —  Today, the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education launches two new master’s in education programs and a doctorate in education, each with a concentration in health professions education. These interdisciplinary programs are offered by the Faculty of Education, in collaboration with the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The goal of these programs is to train leaders in the field of health care by developing their skills as educators. This training will also encourage health professionals to create innovative teaching programs, while supporting research in health education to improve general levels of health.

Health professions education allows those who will shape the future to create knowledge and new approaches to health promotion and protection, and prevention of illness.

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education, along with its commitment to the promotion, advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of education, is actively involved in the pre-service and professional development of teachers. The Faculty is also a leader in educational research.
