uOttawa welcomes ambassador of Japan for special lecture series
OTTAWA, March 9, 2011 — Ambassador Ishikawa participated in the University of Ottawa’s Ambassadors Lecture Series. The topic of the lecture was Importance of the Basics: Facts About Japan for the 21st Century. Ambassador Ishikawa spoke about his perception of Canada as a balanced and multicultural country. He also discussed how Japan is proactively changing in today’s world of extremely rapid globalization. During his lecture, he emphasized that Canada and Japan share fundamental values in terms of democracy, the rule of law and human rights and that they should collaborate and forge more partnerships—not only in the political and economic areas, but also in areas such as human security and cutting edge technology. The ambassador answered questions and spoke with guests following the lecture. Over 100 people attended the event, including federal government representatives, diplomats from other embassies and members of the region’s Japanese community.
