Lecture:  “From Industrial to Work Citizenship: the Impact on Institutions of Labour Collectives Reports”

Inauguration of the “Francophone Junction”
Victor Simon, Vice-president, Resources of the University of Ottawa

As part of the University’s Francophone Week celebrations, the Community Life Service will inaugurate a new student lounge called Francophone Junction. Victor Simon, vice-president of resources, will lead the official inauguration of this new space, where the francophone university community will be able to access various resources in French, to exchange and participate in French-language activities, and to obtain information on francophone community organisations in the Ottawa region. Shamin Mohamed Jr., founder and president of LetsStopAIDS and honours baccalaureate of Health Sciences

Founder and president of LetsStopAIDS, a Canadian charitable organization,and honours baccalaureate of Health Sciences, Shamin Mohamed Jr., will animate an information session with the goal of recruiting six youth ambassadors, who will travel to South Africa to help youth living in its HIV-affected regions and to develop a sense of environmental stewardship while fostering leadership skills in health promotion. This initiative is organised through the Spread Trees, Not AIDS sustainable and educational programme, which was first developed in 2009. Nimdoma Sherpa, youngest woman to summit Mount Everest

The School of Social Work of the Faculty of Social Sciences will host a special event titled “My Everest Experience” featuring Nimdoma Sherpa, who, at age 17 became the youngest woman to summit Mount Everest.
