As part of the Austrian Canadian Science Talks Lecture Series, Dr. Josef Penninger, senior scientist and scientific director at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, will give a lecture titled “From Regulation of Bone Loss to Breast Cancer Prevention.” He will discuss his latest research on the prevention of osteoporosis and the development of drugs against breast cancer. Event: Earth Hour
8:30 p.m., uOttawa campus (550 Cumberland St.)

In order to reduce our carbon footprint, the Sustainable Development Office has developed a plan to reduce the campus’ energy consumption and to create a culture where staff and students are aware that even a small act such as turning off the lights can help us become more sustainable. The University of Ottawa will participate in the worldwide event Earth Hour 2011. During the 2010 event, the University reduced its electrical consumption by 12%.
