OTTAWA, March 31, 2011  —  University of Ottawa President Allan Rock will be attending the winter 2011 graduation ceremony of the Ottawa Mission’s Discovery University (DU). Discovery University is a five-year old joint project of the Ottawa Mission, the University of Ottawa, Saint Paul University and First Baptist Church. The program has enabled hundreds of homeless or low-income people to take university-level courses free of charge. The University of Ottawa is a key partner in this initiative, providing professors and classroom space since 2005.

President Rock will distribute graduation certificates to DU students. Many have found a way to learn, express themselves and improve their lives thanks to this unique opportunity.
