Public Lecture Series on Science of the University of Ottawa Postdoctoral Association

The University of Ottawa Postdoctoral Association (UOPDA) presents its Public Lecture Series on Science. Jorge Mejias, PhD, Centre for Neural Dynamics, will give a lecture titled Can We Simulate Our Brain in a Computer? Yanfeeng Wang, professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, will give a second lecture titled Monitoring the Health of Wind Turbines. This event will be held in English. Concert: University of Ottawa Benefit Concert for Japan*

The School of Music will host a University of Ottawa benefit concert for Japan. Students from the School of Music have come together to organize a benefit concert, with all proceeds going to humanitarian efforts in Japan. Conference: Taking Stock of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement

The Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS), in collaboration with the Centre for European Studies at Carleton University, presents a half-day conference on the economics, business and politics of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as well as on reporting on CETA in the Canadian and European media, titled Taking Stock of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Panellists include Geranda Notten, University of Ottawa; Jason Langrish, Canada-Europe Roundtable for Business; John Curtis, Centre for International Governance Innovation; Patrick Leblond, University of Ottawa; Terry Collins-Williams, Carleton University; Phil Rourke, Carleton University; Christopher Kukucha, University of Lethbridge; Richard French, University of Ottawa; Anca Gurzu, Embassy magazine; Gerd Braune, German newspaper correspondent; and Christopher Waddell, Carleton University. Official launch of the Garnier FindingLife Expedition to Africa
Keynote speaker: Sophie Grégroire-Trudeau, Quebec correspondent for etalk on CTV

The Faculty of Health Sciences will host the official launch of the Garnier FindingLife Expedition to Africa, during which a screening of the award-winning documentary FindingLife, produced by Elia Saikaly, award-winning filmmaker, FindingLife founder and expedition leader, will be presented. A keynote address will be made by Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, Quebec correspondent for etalk on CTV. The delegation to Africa will include Norm O’Reilly, professor and researcher in sport management, Élise Desjardins, master’s student, and Fransceca Trentadue, undergraduate student, of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
