OTTAWA, April 11, 2011  —  The Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa is proud to announce that it has signed on to the United Nations Global Compact.

The Global Compact is a worldwide initiative bringing together businesses, organizations and executives with a shared goal of respecting human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. The Alumni Association seeks to engage in responsible business practices and adheres to the Global Compact’s ten principles. These principles can be applied in different, constantly changing ways.

Alumni Association president Pierre Martin, BScSoc ’96, explains: “The Global Compact principles have allowed the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa to be more aware of its social responsibility. Thanks to this initiative, many measures have been taken. They will continue to evolve, with an eye towards constantly improving our social performance.”

The Alumni Association is firmly committed to human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption.
