Candidates to debate the future of public services in Canada

OTTAWA, April 25, 2011  —  Representatives from the five major political parties will debate public service issues at an event hosted by the University of Ottawa and its Department of History, in collaboration with Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC).

The debate, entitled Election 2011: the Future of Public Services, will be of particular interest to voters in the National Capital Region, where public service employees and their families account for a large proportion of the population. It will be broadcast on Rogers Ottawa and webcast in real time, making it accessible to Canadians from coast to coast. Both questions from the audience and those received via email will be addressed.

When: Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Marion Hall Auditorium, 140 Louis-pasteur

Don Newman, one of Canada’s most eminent political journalists and chairman of Canada 2020, a non-partisan forum dedicated to the social and economic well-being of Canadians, will act as moderator for the debate.
