University of Ottawa: destination of Women’s Worlds 2011 international congress

OTTAWA, June 28, 2011  —  The University of Ottawa is proud to welcome over 1500 participants from all over the world to Women’s Worlds 2011 – a global convergence to advance women’s equality through research, exchange, leadership and action. Cohosted by the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, this will be the largest gathering of women from around the world in Canadian history.

Academics, activists, researchers, policy-makers and artists will exchange knowledge and ideas under the theme Inclusions, Exclusions, Seclusions: Living in a Globalized World.

WHAT: Women’s Worlds 2011 (Hashtag: #ww2011)

WHEN: July 3-7, 2011

WHERE: University of Ottawa, Ottawa Convention Centre and other venues in downtown Ottawa

Several University of Ottawa professors and PhD candidates will present their research on a broad range of themes, including women in entrepreneurship, fifty years of the birth control pill, sex work, violence against women and the banning of Islamic veils. This event invites a diversity of minds and experiences to delve into some of the most pressing issues of our time.
