OTTAWA, September 9, 2011  —  This year, professors in the Faculty of Arts have planned a special welcome for new students. The cohort of about 1,200 newcomers to the Faculty will be the first to experience a new professor-student mentoring program. This program matches a group of about ten new students to a professor-mentor from their department. More than a hundred professor-mentors representing the eighteen departments, schools and institutes that make up the Faculty will act as contact persons for new students and will offer them their support throughout the academic year.

The new students met their respective professor-mentors for the first time on Faculty of Arts Welcome Day, which took place on September 6. With this personalized support, the Faculty of Arts seeks to enhance learning and develop relationships between students and their departments.
