Congratulations to our new graduates!
OTTAWA, October 28, 2011 — More than 1,000 students will receive their diplomas at the University of Ottawa’s two Fall 2011 Convocation ceremonies.
For graduating students, it is a time to celebrate their accomplishments in front of family and friends. For members of the University community, it is a time to celebrate the efforts of students they have supported during their studies at the University of Ottawa.
WHAT: Fall 2011 Convocation
WHEN: Sunday, October 30, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Southam Hall, National Arts Centre, 53 Elgin Street, Ottawa
As well, this month, the University of Ottawa conferred honorary doctorates on two outstanding scientific pioneers:
Jacques Samarut is an eminent professor and research scientist in the field of cellular and molecular biology who has garnered an international reputation for his work on oncogenic retroviruses and on the mechanisms of hormone receptor action in embryonic development and cancer.
Jules Hoffmann is based at the University of Strasbourg in France. He holds a PhD in natural science (1963) and was recently awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his accomplishments in immunology. According to the Nobel Assembly, his work has “revolutionized our understanding of the immune system.”
