uOttawa and five Ottawa-region hospitals affirm joint commitment to health education and research

OTTAWA, November 23, 2011  —  The University of Ottawa will make its association with five hospitals in the Ottawa region official through the signing of an affiliation agreement. The hospitals involved are Bruyère Continuing Care, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Hôpital Montfort, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and The Ottawa Hospital.

The University of Ottawa and the hospitals have a long history of cooperation in delivering health education and research programs and health education clinical experiences at the undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, postdoctoral and continuing medical education levels. The University and the hospitals will affirm their ties as an Academic Health Sciences Centre, to enhance their health care activities, including health education, research and clinical care. Faculties involved include Health Sciences, Medicine, Social Sciences and the Telfer School of Management.

WHEN: Thursday, November 24, 2011, at 11 a.m.

This agreement reinforces each party’s continuing commitment to the provision of leadership and resources through the Academic Health Sciences Centre. The University and hospitals will collaborate on the delivery of clinical services, university programs, health education and research initiatives, as well as on procuring and allocating resources to support joint projects in health education and research.

They will strive to improve the health of the community by providing excellent clinical services. In addition, they are committed to maintaining the highest quality and standards of health education and fostering outstanding health research.
