I lead a team devoted to quality and innovation in University teaching. With the mandate to develop university strategies and programmes to enrich the learning experience, his team leads initiatives in professional development for faculty members, in creation of learning material (both in paper-based and digital) and support the evolution of learning infrastructures on-campus, off-campus and for distributed-learning. I presided and participated in the creation of numerous consortia devoted to learnware design and research on e-learning, among others: Hypertext and Hypermedia, Instructional Design for the New Media, SeniorCentre.ca, In-Genius - Succeeding in University with Learning Disability, On-line Training in the Workplace for Health Professionals, Teletriage : a program in telenursing practice, Evaluating WebCT and it’s potential for enhancing student learning in classroom-based undergraduate education and Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning in Synergy. I'm also one of the co-founders of the Institute for the Advancement of Teaching in Higher Education and I currently sit on its board of directors.

I take an interdisciplinary approach to Indigenous peoples' issues including work involving Aboriginal rights and Treaty rights as understood from the perspective of Canadian law, International law and Indigenous legal traditions. Main areas of focus currently include Indigenous Identity and citizenship, Metis issues, Treaty interpretation and modern Treaties, Indigenous self-determination and sovereignty, critical Indigenous theory, decolonization Indigenous justice reform, and Indigenous legal traditions. Professor Cousins’ primary area of specialization is program evaluation, specifically the use of evaluative knowledge to inform policy and practice. His research includes studies of evaluation use, participatory and collaborative approaches to evaluation and evaluation capacity building. Douglas Fleming's research focuses on ESL, citizenship and critical pedagogy. Prior to graduating from UBC with a PhD in Language and Literacy Education in 2007, he taught for 20 years for the Toronto and Surrey School Districts. He currently teaches courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels that focus on current social and political issues in second language research, ESL methodology and program development, multicultural citizenship education, equity and language policy. In addition, Doug has worked on numerous curriculum development projects and has participated in a variety of advisory boards and professional organizations at the federal, provincial and local levels.

I run a research laboratory in Flexible Delivery and Transformative Pedagogies on various aspects of innovative teaching and learning strategies including emerging technologies such as simulators, avatars, artificial intelligence, digital storytelling and mobile learning. This “team” collaborates with her developing creative, practical, efficient methods to address everyday educational problems.
I designed and published three learning models (the Partnership Model, 1998; The Demand Driven Learning Model (DDLM), 2001; and the W(e)Learn Framework, 2009 http://www.ennovativesolution.com/WeLearn/). A few of my recent projects in professional development and training include (a) developing, delivering and evaluating the worlds first online physician wellness program (b) an online workplace health program for health providers; and (c) a face-to-face program for healthcare teams across Ontario. Professor Umar Ruhi’s teaching expertise, research interests, and industry engagements span various subject areas in the field of information systems. He teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in management information systems (MIS) and e-business, including courses in the University's interdisciplinary graduate program in e-business technologies. His current research and consulting interests are in the areas of Web 2.0 / Enterprise 2.0, Knowledge Management, Social Media, Business Intelligence, and Consumer Health Informatics. My research concentrates on the grammatical structure of the indigenous languages spoken in the lowlands of South America, in particular that of Mebengokre, spoken by approximately 10.000 people in central Brazil.
More broadly, I'm interested in Eastern Brazil and the Chaco as cultural areas, in their ethnographic, historical, archaeological and linguistic aspects.
