William Amos is a public interest environmental lawyer and is the Director of the uOttawa-Ecojustice Environmental Law Clinic, where he has taught in both French and English since March 2007. He manages a variety of litigation files and law reform projects. He has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Quebec, Ontario and B.C. Courts of Appeal, the Ontario Superior and Divisional Courts, the Quebec Superior Court, the Ontario Municipal Board, and the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal. He has expert knowledge in the areas of offshore drilling law, environmental tort law (nuisance, negligence), species-at-risk law, expropriation law and environmental rights law.
Will has previously served as counsel with the Canadian Radioâ??Television and Telecommunications Commission and the law firm of Heenan Blaikie L.L.P. in Montreal. He has worked internationally with the Mexican Environmental Law Centre (CEMDA) and as a consultant for the North American Commission on Environmental Cooperation. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he was a special assistant in the federal Environment Minister and the Prime Ministerâ??s Offices.

My research is in the area of intellectual property law (primarily trademark and copyright law). I also research and write in the area of privacy law, particularly technology and privacy. I am also involved in research related to geospatial data and the law. This includes the ownership of such data, as well as privacy issues arising from the use of location information.

My current research focuses on the relations between transnational economic integration ("globalization") and social determinants of health: the conditions under which people live and work. How is the emergence of a global marketplace affecting opportunities to lead a healthy life? Who wins, and who loses? How will the worldwide financial crisis we are now experiencing affect health disparities between rich and poor?
