EMPLOYER PROGRAM ON MULTI (STO USERS)

The Employer Program on Multi, an STO initiative, will forever change the way you commute to and from the University of Ottawa. 

The program provides uOttawa employees with:

  • a discount of more than 10% on the monthly STO fee;
  • a convenient payment method through payroll deduction;
  • a valid Multi card as long as you subscribe to the program.

FAQ

  1. What is the Employer Program on Multi?
    The Employer Program on Multi is a transit membership derived through a payroll deduction program. The Employer Program on Multi offers up to a 10% savings annually compared to using a regular monthly membership.
  2. Who is eligible to register in the Employer Program on Multi?
    Permanent employees of the University of Ottawa who live in Quebec are eligible to enroll in the Employer Program on Multi. To be eligible, employees must have the letters A/E on their employee card.
  3. How do I register into the Employer Program on Multi and is there a cost to register?
    There is no cost to get a Multi card from the Employer Program. Replacement of the Multi card is also free, but there is a $10 fee in case of loss of the card.

    Registering in the Employer Program on Multi is simple. First, ensure that you are eligible, see FAQ #2.  Second, you must go in person to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office with your employee card and complete the Employer Program on Multi application form.
  4. Do I need to go to your office to register or can the application be faxed?
    All applications must be completed in person at the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office. We do not accept faxed applications.
  5. When can I register to become a Multi card holder?
    Employees can go to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office at anytime to register in the program. Once the form is completed and approved, you will have to bring it to one of our service points between the 25 and 31 to get your Employer Program Multi card.
  6. Can I register to the Employer Program on Multi if I am not a permanent employee?
    Only permanent employees living in Quebec can enroll into the Employer Program on Multi. See FAQ #2.
  7. Is there is a minimum amount of time that I must be enrolled in the program?
    In accordance with STO regulations, everyone who enrols in the Employer Program on Multi program must do so for at least one full consecutive year.
  8. I lost my Multi card, what do I do?
    If you have lost your Multi card, you must show up at one of our service points and pay the $10 fee to replace it.
  9. What are the benefits of the Employer Program on Multi compared to a regular monthly subscription?
    The two major benefits are the financial savings and the convenience. The Employer Program on Multi provides employees with up to 10% savings annually compared to a regular monthly membership. The Employer Program on Multi is also very convenient since holders don’t have to get a new pass every month. 
  10. How much will be deducted from my pay?
    At the University of Ottawa, deductions are based on 24 pay periods or semi-monthly. We encourage you to contact us for the exact amount as fares can change without notice.
  11. How do I cancel my subscription to the Employer Program on Multi?
    To cancel your subscription to the Employer Program on Multi, you must return your Multi card to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office and complete the cancellation form.  It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that they have completed the one year contract with STO.
  12. How do I change my actual membership to the Employer Program on Multi?
    There are two different membership options: Basic or Senior (65 years old or more). You must return to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office to complete a new form and have it signed. You must the return to one of our service points to get a new Multi card.
  13. What do I do if I am going on sabbatical, maternity/paternity or long term sick leave?
    If you are going on any type of prolonged leave of absence, you must return your Multi card to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office and complete the cancellation form. If you fail to do so and remain in possession of your Multi card, pay deductions will continue as you will still have access to STO services.
  14. I am retiring or leaving the University of Ottawa, what do I have to do?
    If you are retiring from or leaving the University of Ottawa, you must complete the cancellation form and return your Multi card to the Parking and Sustainable Transportation Office. 
  15. How do I use the Federal Transit Tax Credit when enrolled in the Employer Program on Multi?
    On your T4, there’s a section that indicates your public transit contributions during the year. The amount in the section is what you can claim as a transit tax credit.
