Penalties

The clinical placement risk management requirements have been established to protect the health and safety of patients and of our students.  It is very serious to miss a deadline.  Penalties that can be imposed include:

  • $100 fines
  • ineligiblity to participate in clinical placements
  • letter on your student file under professional responsibility and/or
  • blocked from registering for courses on Rabaska

Should you feel that you may miss a deadline, it is highly recommended that you speak with the member of the Clinical Placement Risk Management Team associated with your degree program (listed on the CPRM page) immediately.

If you feel that a penalty has been assessed to you that is inappropriate, you may ask for a review of your file by the Associate Director, Risk and Insurance, John Lammey at jlammey@uottawa.ca. This review will include the totality of the circumstances. You will typically receive a response within 21 days.
