All electrical equipment must be approved before use in Ontario. If your
equipment is not approved, an application for product approval must be
taken out for any unapproved equipment before it is installed.
In addition, all electrical work must be inspected regardless of the installer's
qualifications - an application for inspection must be taken out for any
electrical work done in your facility.
This includes:
- routine maintenance;
- electrical service upgrades;
- installing new equipment;
- installing outlets, switches, light fixtures, smoke detectors (not
counting battery operated types), etc.
