Radiation Safety

Mandatory for all individual working with radioactive materials

OR

General Awareness

Recommended for all non-laboratory personnel who could be potentially exposed to radiation hazards (e.g. housekeeping, physical resources services and protection services).  

Interim Training Requirements

Did you miss the last training session? You must follow these simple steps:

  1. Review documentation available on the Radiation Safety Program web Page.
  2.  Become familiar with the characteristics of the radioisotopes being used. (MSDS web page)
  3. View the appropriate radiation safety video (radiation safety, detection, and decontamination), available from ORM.
  4. Discuss the areas highlighted in the Practical Training document, (click here). Ensure the new user and the Permit Holder signs the documents and submits it to ORM.

The Office of Risk Management will subsequently follow up with the new user to ensure they have understood the key elements of radiation safety and can work in the laboratory in a compliant fashion.
