TRAINING REQUIREMENT
Training is a mandatory requirement and supports your registration to be recognized as an authorized user. You must complete a user registration form (click here) and send it back, duly signed by your supervisor, to Office of Risk Management, 1 Nicholas St, #840, Ottawa, K1N 7B7

Laser Safety - Full training
Mandatory for all individual working with class 3b or class 4 open lasers or laser systems
OR
Laser Safety - Fundamentals
Recommended for all individual working with laser of class 1 to class 3R, included laser embedded systems such as confocal microscopes
Interim Training Requirements
Did you miss the last training session? You must follow these simple steps:
- Review documentation available on the Laser Safety Program Web Page http://www.uottawa.ca/services/ehss/laserintro.htm
- Become familiar with the characteristics of Lasers and the potential hazards associated with their use. Visit the website http://www.uottawa.ca/services/ehss/laserintro.htm and / or read the ‘Laser Safety Guide’ manual (copies in Lab. or ORM)
- View the online Laser Safety Training
- Register for the next available training session at https://web30.uottawa.ca/hr/web/en
- Ensure you have received specific training from your supervisor/principal investigator on the hazard and lab practices.
The Office of Risk Management will subsequently follow up with the new user to ensure they have understood the key elements of Laser safety and can work in the laboratory in a compliant fashion.
