WHMIS is a Canada-wide information system that deals specifically with hazardous substances in the workplace. Hazard symbols, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs), and basic information is governed by Health Canada. Each province/territory then provides regulations as to the specific application in workplaces within its territory.
