Young Workers
Persons under 18 years of age can perform work under certain conditions at the University. To qualify as a worker, the person must receive monetary compensation for their work or services. Volunteers do not receive monetary compensation but must also follow these University guidelines.

* as part of a contractor crew or directly hired by the University
All persons under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times. WHMIS, Laboratory Safety, and other training is to be completed by all young workers. The University employees, professors, and graduate students are responsible for their young workers and ensuring the young worker:
- is in the presence of a University employee, graduate student, or professor at all times. In the case of contractors, the contracting firm will ensure the young worker is supervised.
- receives EHS training as applicable.
- wears protective clothing, steel toe boots, hard hats and other protective equipment as applicable when entering certain areas.
- respects environmental management practices applicable to the University
