Graduation Rate
The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities calculates graduation rates using a single entering cohort of students and determining whether or not they graduated within seven years.
The methodology involves the selection of a cohort of all full-time, first-year undergraduate students (both "new" and a small number of returning students who continue to have first-year status), with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), enrolled in a given fall session who were seeking either a bachelor's or first professional degree. The subset is then matched against the records for students who received a degree (in any program) from the same institution during the following seven years.
The graduating cohort does not include students who transferred to other institutions. They are considered non-graduating, for the purpose of this analysis.
