Centre for Special Services

Ontario Human Rights Code

Adopted in 1981, the Ontario Human Right Code says that Ontario officially recognizes the dignity and worth of every individual and guarantees the same rights and opportunities to every person, without discrimination.

Clientele

The Centre for Special Services (CSS) offers services to persons with mobility or visual disability, who are deaf, deafened or hard-of-hearing, who have learning disability, physical-health or mental-health problems.

Programs and services

The CSS manages two programs: Academic support and Awareness.

Academic support

This program puts professional resources and specialized equipment at your disposal, thus giving you access to various services: exam accommodation, note taking, tutoring, sign-language or oral interpretation, transcription of documents into alternative formats, etc.

In order to qualify for services, you must meet with one of our counselors who will help assess your needs and assist in arranging the necessary accommodations.

Awareness and Integration

The CSS organizes awareness activities to facilitate the integration of students with disabilities.

Registration

To register and have access to the services, simply make an appointment with a resource person from the CSS. The reception of the CSS will refer you to the resource person who will take care of your file and notify you of the required documentation.
