Your uOttawa Card

New students

Getting your uOttawa card is a simple. You can order your uOttawa card online or pick it up when you arrive on campus. For security reasons, we do not send uOttawa cards in the mail. You must pick it up at one of the locations and dates mentioned below. A valid piece of photo identification is required when you are picking up your uOttawa card. 

When and where you can pick up your uOttawa card


When:

  • As soon as you are registered for courses.

Where:

  • InfoService, Tabaret Hall room 129
  • During My Prep Week, go to Hugette Labelle Hall located in the Tabaret building, room 112 on the dates and at the times below.

uOttawa cards are automatically renewed whenever you register for courses, the expiry date of your card is printed on the back. You must keep your card for the duration of your studies at the University of Ottawa.

Acceptable photo identification to get your uOttawa card

To get your uOttawa card you must present a valid passport or at least two of the following, one with your photo:

  • Driver's licence (photo)
  • Certificate of Indian Status (photo)
  • Ontario BYID card (LCBO) (photo)
  • Federal government employee ID (photo)
  • Provincial government employee ID (photo)
  • Municipal government employee ID (photo)
  • Canadian citizenship certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) card
  • Affidavit

Photo standards

  • Tinted prescription glasses may be worn as long as the eyes are clearly visible.
  • Sunglasses cannot be worn.
  • A hat cannot be worn.

Special cases

Veiled students (partially hidden face)
Women wearing a veil (partially hidden face) can make an appointment to go to InfoService before opening hours of 9 a.m. to be photographed without their veil by a female employee.
