Using your card
In addition to being used as your student identification, the card can be used for quick and convenient payment at over a hundred locations on campus. Simply present your uOttawa card at any of the locations below. New locations are being added regularly, so keep checking the uOttawa card website for updates. Your uOttawa card cannot be used to purchase alcohol, cigarettes or lottery tickets and you cannot make payments on your uOttawa student account. You can use your uOttawa card for University Bookstore purchases.
docUcentre
Flex funds on your uOttawa card can be used to make any type of purchase at the docUcentre located in the University Centre, room 0024, and at Roger-Guindon Hall, room 2010. If you need to print an essay, buy a course pack or have speciality prints created, you can use your uOttawa card to pay for your purchase.
Pivik, 1848 & Café Alt
Your uOttawa card is now accepted at three student-run businesses on campus. Both meal plans and flex funds can now be used at the Pivik, 1848 and Café Alt.
Buying with your meal plan:
Meal plans are meant to be used for purchasing meals that have been prepared on campus. Meal plans offer tax savings for students on foods prepared on campus. Any pre-packaged ready-to-eat food product, such as chips or TV dinners can be combined with a meal plan as long as its combined with one food product that has been prepared/made on campus. Please note that when combining a pre-packaged food item, the taxes on that item will be charged and the combined total will be deducted from your meal plan account. Any product purchased that is not edible must be purchased from your flex plan.
Buying with your flex funds:
All items except those in the excluded products below can be purchased with your flex funds.
Excluded products
The following items cannot be purchased with your uOttawa card:
Alcohol products;
Tobacco products;
Lottery products;
Gift or pre-paid cards;
Cash back.
Community Life Service
You can use your uOttawa card to purchase event tickets, reserve space on campus or pay poster fees at Community Life Service. Basically, you can pay for anything you can purchase at the Community Life Service with your uOttawa card. As an added bonus, you can buy advance tickets to many popular events if you pay with a uOttawa card.
Draft Pub
You can use your uOttawa card at the Draft Pub for most purchases.
Note :
You can' purchase alcohol with your uOttawa card. As well, meal plans aren't accepted at the Draft Pub. You may pay for purchases with your flex account.
Bac à frites
You uOttawa card can be used at the Bac à frites (chip stand) located at the entrance of lot K (near Simard Hall).
Note: At the present time, meal plans aren't accepted at the Bac à frites. You may pay for purchases with your flex account.
Vending machine
Pilot project
We are currently conducting a vending machine pilot project on campus. Vending machines at the locations listed below accept the Discover uOttawa card. Just tap your Discover uOttawa card on the reader as indicated on the vending machines, and select your product.

Student Academic Success Service (SASS)
CARTU
When using CARTU services at 150 University, students will be required to use their uOttawa card to register when they arrive.
Library
You can pay late fees at the Morisset Library with your uOttawa card. Additionally, your uOttawa card is your official library card and you can use it at affiliated libraries (Saint-Paul University and Carleton University, etc.).
Access after hours
Starting in September 2012, you will need your uOttawa card to gain access to the Morisset Library after hours. To gain access, gently tap your uOttawa card to the reader and the gate will open. Note: if you have outstanding fees at the library you will be able to gain access until all fees are paid in full.
Sports Services
Your uOttawa card is your official access card for all Sport Services facilities at the University.
Exam rooms and halls
You MUST have with you your uOttawa card during mid-term and final exams. The card is your official University of Ottawa identification card. Note: If you have a student card that was issued to you before September 2011, you will still be able to use for identification purposes.
