Office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost

The University of Ottawa is particularly proud of the quality of its teaching staff and of the many high quality programs it offers its students. This Web page is one of the many gateways you can use to take a closer look at this exceptionally stimulating learning environment

The Vice-President Academic and Provost works closely with the deans to set the University's broad academic directions, to design and regularly evaluate programs, to recruit and retain professors, and to establish student-recruitment strategies.

The Vice-President Academic and Provost oversees the University's ten faculties, their schools, departments and programs, and the library network. The Vice-President's portfolio also covers a number of academic units or services designed to help students make the most of their university experience or to guide professors in their academic pursuits. These units report to the Vice-President either directly or through an associate vice-president. Examples are the Registrar's Office, the Liaison Office, the Financial Aid and Awards Service, the Co-operative Education Programs, the Student Academic Success Service, the International Office, the Teaching and Learning Support Service, the Centre for Academic Leadership, the Professional Training Service and the University of Ottawa Centre for Continuing Education.

The Vice-President Academic and Provost is also responsible for all sectors that play a strategic role in the University's Francophone mission and is, among others, co-chair of the Standing Committee on Francophone Affairs and Official Languages.
