Consortium des universités de la
francophonie ontarienne (CUFO)

The Consortium des universités de la francophonie ontarienne (CUFO) was created in 1995 and the University of Ottawa is a founding member. Its other members are Laurentian University, University of Sudbury, Saint-Paul University, Glendon College of York University, Collège universitaire de Hearst, and Dominican University College. CUFO's prime objective is to improve Franco-Ontarians' access to higher education both by making a comprehensive range of French-language university programs and services available to this minority and by allowing it to tap into the human and financial resources of the university sector. The Consortium also wants to sharply boost the number of Ontario Francophones attending colleges and universities, especially young Francophones. This objective applies both to university studies in general and to specific university programs where Francophones are highly under-represented. Moreover, CUFO members work to streamline the postsecondary education system by better articulating their respective programs and collaborating with French-language community colleges to facilitate the transfer of students between certain college and university programs.
