Guiding Principles for Animal Use and Care
The University of Ottawa, in collaboration with its Partners 1, is committed to:
- conducting research in an ethical manner;
- the responsible use and care of animals for research and educational purposes;
- providing animal care resources to promote research excellence and growth;
- developing policies and a clear accountability framework, applying policies consistently and communicating these in a timely and transparent manner;
- ensuring flexibility based on appropriate harms-benefit analysis;
- seeking appropriate input from users and relevant administrators in planning for and maintenance of animal care resources;
- ensuring a rate structure competitive with comparable animal care services.
