Mandatory masking on campus until May 31

To ensure the safety of those on campus, we have decided to extend our current mandatory masking policy until the end of May, at which time we will reassess. Exceptions and details will be communicated to you directly by your faculty, department or school as needed.

All persons entering or remaining in uOttawa premises must wear a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin. Please refer to the face masking requirements webpage for more details.

Mandatory  COVID-19  vaccination

The University of Ottawa will maintain mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies until the end of May. Students, faculty, staff and all visitors are still required to certify their vaccination status using the COVID-19 Vaccination Declaration online tool and complete the COVID-19 Daily Health Check-In form online before coming to campus.

Please refer to the mandatory vaccination webpage for more details

Indoor air quality enhancement

The University of Ottawa is making continuous efforts to reduce the airborne transmission of COVID-19. The design of a building, occupancy and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems maintenance, can all impact potential spread of the virus.

Although improvements to Indoor Air Quality cannot eliminate the risk of airborne transmission of COVID-19 on their own, we have enhanced ventilation, in addition to ensuring and most important precautions related to social distancing, wearing face coverings, disinfecting and hand washing.

The quality of air in all of the buildings is being tracked daily, and maintenance is done on a regular basis on Campus.

Ontario Public Health provided resources and FAQ on COVID-19: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems in Buildings.

COVID-19 kit for staff

Facilities, in collaboration with Teaching and Learning Support Services and IT, is preparing 5000 COVID-19 kits that will be distributed to all faculties and services, which will, in turn, be distributed to staff. These kits will include 1 small hand sanitizer bottle, 3 reusable masks, 1 surface sanitizer bottle, and 2 microfibre cloths. Staff will be asked to care for masks and cloths (cleaning them).

NOTE: To disinfect keyboards, mouse, and touch screen on campus, including the Xerox printers and the podium screens in classrooms, please spray surface disinfectant on microfibre cloth and wipe down the surface. DO NOT use an excessive amount of product.

If you have not received your kit, please contact the Facility Manager of your faculty or service.

Refilling your bottles

You can refill your hand sanitizer bottles at any pump located in public areas on campus. In general, these can be found at main entrances to buildings and near elevators. If you notice a bottle is empty, please make a Maximo request, or call x2222 to have this one refilled.

You can refill your surface disinfectant bottle at one of the 3 or 4 pumps located in each building. You can contact the Facility Manager for your faculty or service to obtain the exact list of locations in your building.
