Sarah is passionate about being involved in different aspects of her community. Since her high school years, she has been volunteering within different capacities in the city, with local initiatives such as weekly lunch for the homeless and as a mentor for refugee youth (https://sidratreehouse.com). She has also invested hundreds of hours of community service at hospitals both local and abroad, as she hopes to pursue a career in healthcare in the future. Sarah is currently involved with UMO-OG Covid Relief efforts where she assists in packaging and distribution of food kits for those affected by the current situation (https://www.instagram.com/umoogrelief/).
During her pandemic-free summers she enjoys travelling to new destinations, outdoor activities, and working with youth at camps. In her spare time, you could find Sarah with her family and friends, learning a new skill or watching Netflix.
Re-running for the position of Senate, Sarah hopes to address both the academic and non-academic concerns of her peers while prioritizing the well-being of students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Sarah hopes to address some of the recurring concerns that students have:
- Tuition costs
- Mental health support
- Flexible academic regulations
- Financial support through scholarships and bursaries
