Dr. Marlise Santos


Dr. Marlise Santos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Santos is part of the Neuroradiology Section at The Ottawa Hospital and practices diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. Dr. Santos has been the principal investigator for several studies endorsed by the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She has published multiple articles in the field of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. Dr. Santos has received the Best Radiology Teacher Award for the University of Ottawa Medical School Undergraduates in 2012 and The Ottawa Hospital’s Patient Safety Star Award in 2014. In February 2016, Dr. Santos was accepted into the Masters in Public Health, concentration in Clinical Epidemiology, of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, cycle 2016-2018.

Neuro-angiography, Endovascular treatment of Brain, Head &Neck and Spinal Vascular Lesions, Whole Body Percutaneous Sclerotherapy of Vascular Malformations, Neuro CT/MRI, Head and Neck Imaging, Advanced MR Imaging

Research Interests:                     

Patient safety, Long-term outcome of the endovascular repair of vascular lesions, Advanced Techniques in Vessel Wall imaging, Neurovascular Anatomy, Head and Neck Diseases

  • Sclerotherapy treatment of head, neck and body venous and or veno-lymphatic malformations.
  • Radiation protection in Neuro-intervention
  • Carotid plaque imaging (clinical MRI and high-field MRI).
