Georgio Tasca

I am an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology in the Clinical Program. Before moving to the university in 2016, I was a Clinical Psychologist at The Ottawa Hospital in the Eating Disorders Program. During the first 15 years of my career I worked mostly as a clinician providing individual and group therapy to mental health inpatients and outpatients. I transitioned to become a clinician-researcher during the past 12 years, and I held the Research Chair in Psychotherapy through the Faculty of Medicine (2011-2016).

Currently I am on the editorial boards of the journals Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy Research, and I was the Associate Editor of Group Dynamics. I am a registered psychologist in Ontario.

Recently I was elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), and I am a Fellow of the Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association. In 2016 I received the Group Psychologist of the Year Award from APA, and in 2014 the Canadian Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Profession. I also received the Ontario Psychological Association Award for Clinical Teaching. In 2017 I will be the president-elect of the APA Society for Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy.
